Medicine Buddha Murti -2.5 Inches
This wonderful statue is a representation of Bhaisajyaguru, also called a Medicine Buddha or the King of Healers.
The Medicine Buddha is depicted sitting on a lotus throne (the lotus flower is the symbol of purity of mind and of the earth) in the posture of Vajrayana ( also known as the Diamond Position, which was assumed by Buddha Shakyamuni on the last day before his enlightenment). With his left hand, he forms the gesture of Absolute Balance. Gautama Buddha used this gesture to summon the earth goddess, Sthavara, as a witness to his attainment of Buddhahood. The gesture signifies the state in which objective consciousness is removed. The gesture was assumed by the Buddha as he sat under a fig tree where he submerged himself in meditation and it helped him reach a state of deep reflection. The left-hand forms the gesture of Comforting and Fearlessness which signifies blessing and protection.
